Dear KP graduants,

I know that all of you are graduants from ITE BIT course. However, that is not an excuse for your technology knowledge to just conveniently 'SMS' me and request for things as when happy as you like.
I will be happy if I am asked to go out for tea or movies etc..instead :)
To this morning, I have been answering quite a few questions which I have been TELLING you during SCHOOL hours. It's tiring to repeat myself again over sms + I am on HOLIDAY too...

Guess there are some lessons you should learn, the STANDARD protocol! (where u needed in the working society), don't you think you can just sms for what you want.

1) Application to Poly -> Go to respective Poly and Apply with your 'printed' ONLINE transcript if you can't wait for the printed ones.

2) Transcripts will be ready ONLY on 16th April for YOUR COLLECTION(but I am having a new class this coming term so I won't be around at my desk practically the whole week) Don't think you can just call me and wait for you,...I'm not at your beck and call!

3) Request for testimonials. Testimonials means I have to 'vouch' for you theorically of your personality and behaviour and aptitude when in school. Before the school ends, I kept asking who needs me to write but only 3 came to me and now 6 of you have come to me separately via SMS, definitely I have to REJECT you.
And mentioned SO MANY TIMES...I will only write based on:
-during school term & not my holidays(btw your term has already ended)
-BY SINCERE call/visit, NOT by SMS...what are you thinking? I am not some free service at your convenience!
-have sufficient CIPs and good results >3.0
btw, I have cleared all documents, so you will have to VISIT me (call by strict appt only) and write a list of events, contributions, you did for the class/school and why I should write for you? so that I can compose better for u.
-Only when only I am available to compose.
Alternatively, you can request for other lecturers to write for you but it will depends on what you contributed too e.g. A major project for the school, exco for a particular CCA and have contributed/plan for major events, represent ITE as college level for competition/award. and of course, if the lecturer is willingly to write for you.

Please understand that there is no biasness for what I have mentioned. Just that I am not too happy with the way you are treating me....apathetically when you do not need my help. This is so much you have repay me for guidance....sad...sad....sad...

p/s: I will be flying off tonight for my overseas holiday until next week so I will not reply at all...

Well...finally I have sent another batch of students again....feeling great and yet sad (after all the bitter sweet memories we have gone through these 2 years)

Thank you for bearing with me for my strigent rules and regulations, temper, screams and mood swings. Of course, we have good time like crappy jokes and celebrations as well.

Hope that these 2 years I have led you and achieve what you have planned and you have enjoyed a fulfilling course.

Dear all,

Understand that you will be 'graduated' after tomorrow's paper. However, please be reminded you are STILL under the school rules and regulations.

(1) The discipline has spoken clear. If your attire is improper or your hairstyle is too fancy or you are in your 'shopping' shoes, you will be send home without taking the paper.
(I did this to 3 students taking exam today violating the discipline clause. Do not wish to do that to you!)

(2) CIP points- I have keyed in for all of you. BUT the system is still pending for teachers' approval until 16Mar thus you won't be able to see it till 17 Mar.

(3) Those who have ordered class photos, please do come earlier to collect them.

(4) Remember to study smart and not hard! Do your best and have a good rest!

Wonder how come some people get through interview smoothly even if they are not good in speech? Well...your dress-up for interview/events give people the impression first which impact the overall rating of yourself.

The whole class is going for this workshop on Thursday during my EBP lessons on Thursday 1 Mar 10-12pm.
"Missing-in-action" people will be penalised(maybe you have to pay) as this is a paid workshop.

Blood Donation Drive for 2007 (1 March 2007)

As reported in the newspaper recently, there is severe shortage of blood, thus some scheduled non-life threatening operation has to be postponed. This is so serious and distressing to both patients and families.

This time round, we are working with BMDP to conduct a Bone Marrow Donor talk cum recruitment exercise to build awareness of Bone Marrow Programme in Singapore. The special target group being Malays and Indians. I will provide details of the talk at a later date.

In the meantime, both exisitng donors and potential first time donors are to keep themselves healthy during this festive seasons.

Let's work to contribute our best to save lives.

Flasher Encounter In Shelter Near Bus-Stop Outside Blk 205

This morning between 8-9AM, a few girls from a SS class had an encounter with a male flasher masterbating in the shelter near the bus-stop (outside Blk 205) opposite the campus.
The girls had already filed a police report.
This flasher is identified to be a malay man in his mid-thirties and sports a curly & center-parking hair-style.
Pls help to inform and advise your class (especially the female students) to be extra cautious whenever they are in the Clementi neighbourhood. For consideration of their safety, it is recommended for the female students not to wonder alone but travel at least in pairs (with their friends).

1. Please be in Lab 1 by 12pm on 26 Jan (Fri). CEO expected to visit KP in Lab 1 at 1pm. Should finish event by 2pm.

2. FYP groups are suppose to load their projects either in the desktops or laptops for demo purposes. Students are expected to be able to explain your projects as CEO most likely will ask the students (for both FYP and non-FYP projects).

3. The rest non-FYP groups pls continue to do your EBP projects.

4. This Thurs (25 Jan) during your EBP lesson from 10am - 12pm at Lab 1 we will need to do a trial run (aka "rehearsal") and to brief you all more on what to expect during the visit.

CRM group project deadline

Hi all

The deadline for CRM Group project presentation is scheduled on 26 Feb (Mon).

On 26 Feb, all groups will do their presentation and submit their reports as well during the CRM lesson. Each day of delay thereafter of submission of report will result in a deduction of 10 marks per day.

However, any group which can present and submit their reports earlier will be assessed favourably as they will be deemed to have put in more effort. This will, however, still depend on the quality, depth and relevancy of the project submitted.

If you have downloaded IE7 and have problems logging into our class blog. Don't worry, you are not alone...or u need to do is to downgrade back to IE6 :)

wanna downgrade; go to control panel -> add and remove programe -> remove Internet Explorer 7.0 should be able to work after you restart..

but if u still wanna use IE 7..
u can edit the setting..
1) Go to Tools;
2) Internet Options;
3) Click on the Security Tab;
4) then Custom level;
5) den find for Scripting..
6) then enable the 'Allow websites to prompt for information using scripted windows'
7) click ok then ok..

then should be able to use already.. =))

I was alerted by the Clementi Police HQ this afternoon that there has been a case of assault and robbery at blk 205 opp campus.

The victims were challenged by a small group of aggressors at the bus-stop opposite our campus. The victims later followed the aggressors to a secluded corner at Blk 205 whereby they were then assaulted and robbed by the aggressors who were armed with knives. Ambulance was called in.

Pls advise your students the following points below to avoid being the next victim of crime:

1. Do NOT follow any strangers despite any challenges they may put forth to you. This is especially so for some of our male students who are very inclined to play heroism in such circumstances. You do not know whether the aggressors are armed with dangerous weapons.

2. Proceed to a more crowded area. If needed be, shout out loud for help and call the school/police.

3. Should you be a victim of crime, remain calm and do not resist. Take note of the culprits’ physical description such as his appearance, clothing and height. Do take note of the direction taken by the culprit and his mode of escape.

Call the police as soon as it is safe to do so.

The Travel Planners at ITE College West (Clementi campus) would be officially opened by Mr Robert Khoo, CEO, NATAS on Thur, 19 Oct 06 at 10 am.

In support of the event, close to 50 invited guests from the travel & tourism industry would be at clementi campus to witness the official opening. A total of 12 exhibition booths comprising cruise, resorts, National Tourist Organisations and Transtar Travel (a deluxe coach would be on display at carpark) would also be set-up along the stretch of corridor outside LT, Training Restaurant and Dance Studio.

Do visit the booths and board the Transtar coach to experience the luxury facilities. Please be properly attired and be at their best behaviour!!!

"Rent-A-Cart"

Maybe you had already seen some posters on this, maybe you had already heard about this...
Never mind if you have still no idea about this currently, that’s why I’m sending you a little more details about this initiative by ITE Co-Op Society.

The “Rent-A-Cart” service provides students with the use of a push-cart that will serve as a “retail outlet” for our students to provide their products and services. It aims to:
§ promote entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas among our students
§ encourage active involvement of students in selling
§ provide more products/services to our students

The Admin fee will be $10 per day, and is available to all Clementi students. Do give a try if you have many many barang barang which you wanna sell, be it in small groups or interested individuals. However, do let the students know that maintaining a good class attendance is important when we decide whether to approve their application.

By the way, you can expect to see new push-cart stall in our campus when you are back from the term break. Please give them your support.

Some artistic side of me, I fell in love with this play when my sister introduced to me when I was Pri 4....since I have never missed out any movies, OST, series, books on this play. The first and last time I watched was when I was in Sec 2!!! and had been waiting for them to return to Singapore!!! Finally after near 15 years...a worthwhile play which you shouldn't miss.

Well...SIM can be your next study advance after ITE. Your 1 year senior, my students, are in SIM straight after ITE. They took up 3-year course which gives them a fundamental to Diploma then to Degree. (I will be taking CARE lesson next term to discuss your choice)

Agree that $$$$$ is the issue into getting in. Nonetheless, it's good to have a look-see and discover the different courses and structure that affect your future.

Job opportunities....for those who wants to work after ITE

The Singapore Prisons are working together with Teens magazine to do a recruitment drive.

They will be coming to our campus on 17 August (Thur), and will be distributing invites for their play in the canteen from 11am - 1pm. More details will be included in the invitation.

During the distribution of the invites, five talents will be togged in dresses made of paper with taglines of the play and the recruitment drive. These talents (paper dolls) will be distributing pamphlets and invites to the main show to be held on 26 August 2006.

Students can register and RSVP for the play through email. The play will be in the form of advertisement to deliver the message to the masses; in this case, the many job opportunities available in the Prisons. Theebatharan s/o Sasitharan, a Precision Engineering student studying at ITE CW (BB), is suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemi .

He has been receiving intensive chemotherapy and is now resting at home.
College West is holding a donation drive to help Theebatharan on Thursday 27 Jul 2006.

There will be Students Councillors to go round classes to collect the donations with envelopes.

The Interact Club is pleased to announce the blood donation drive for the year 2006 on 16 August 2006 (Wednesday) at the Staff Lounge from 9 am to 3pm.

Please provide a listing of the potential blood donors to Mr Lim on the enclosed file latest by 8 Aug 2005. Would appreciate if you can adhere to the deadline as time is required to schedule the classes to minimize lesson disruption.
Please note that each successful donor will be awarded 6 CIP hours.
For potential donors aged 17 and below, a signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form is needed. Students are required to have the signed form on the day of donation.
Attached are some information relating to the eligibility and pre and post advice for your information.
The Criteria for Successful Donation
1) Age : 16 to 60 years (16 & 17 years need parental consent form) ......can get from the website.
2) Weight : At least 45 kg.
3) Have not donated blood in the past 3 months (12 weeks)
4) Not on any form of medication currently.
5) Not suffering from illness (flu, symptoms of flu, coughs, sore-throat, fever etc) in the last 1 week.

Red Cross Society will be holding its Flag Day on Saturday, 19 August 06 to raise fund for the running of its operations:

a) provide hospital transportation for needy patients

b) train volunteers to be first aid ready within the community

c) provide accommodation and transportation for the disabled adults

d) provide food, nursing care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions for the needy

The 2006 Singapore Buddhist Lodge Bursary Education Foundation has invited ITE College West (Clementi Campus) to nominate 5 of our students for consideration of the bursary award. The busary award is $800 each. There is no restriction on race, religion or gender. However, the recommended student must meet the following criteria :

1.1 be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident;
1.2 be of good conduct ;
1.3 come from poor and needy families;
1.4 pass the latest semester examination;
1.5 must not in receipt of any scholarship or bursary award.

Opportunity for our students to apply their skills in photography

South West CDC plans to form a South West Smiles Collage as part of the Smiles Campaign for Singapore 2006.

Here are some details:

Dates: 26 June - 30 June 2006
Attire: ITE College West Uniform
Time: 10 am - 3 pm and 3 pm - 8 pm (2 shifts for students, at least 5 students per shift, with lunch and dinner hour each shift)

Equipment: Cameras and at least 1 laptop for pictures to be downloaded - to be assisted by ITE College West and students.

Roles: To take pictures of Smiling South West Residents, and assist to design the collage and hand over to CDC by Tuesday, 4 July 2006. Malls taking part: Harbour Front Shopping Centre, West Mall and Jurong Entertainment Centre (JEC)

Number of students required: 10 per day for 5 days.

Students will be reimbused $5 per shift per day to help defray their expenses incurred while helping out in this campaign.

Pls reply by Fri 23 Jun 12 noon or earlier if your students would like to volunteer in this project using the attached form. Selection of students for the project will be ona first-come, first-served basis.

The main thread of the message is to develop a global mindset that is more adaptable and open to changes while accepting diversity. Through these initiatives, our students are given exposure to the different cultures, practices and lifestyles as well as values of other nations. The aim is to enable them to bridge the gap and cooperate for mutual benefit, to lay the groundwork for future networking. They need to learn to impact lives and put others first. The act of giving and the spirit of volunteerism are desirable outcomes. The 4 categories are Student Exchange, Industrial Attachment, Community Service and Cultural and Sports programmes.

Some sample slogans are Dare to Dream, Walk the Talk, Serve by Doing, Never Say Die, Can Do, Celebrating Differences.

There are cash prizes to be won but the actual amount is to be confirmed. Looking forward to at least 1 entry per class.
